Undated typoscript.

Garuda is the name of a snake eating eagle that, in hinduist myth, serves as Vishnu's mount. In most variants, he seems capable of adequately fulfilling this role; in others, however, notably in those in which he suddenly sprouts sleek human hair (he there bears the title of Garuda Râkshasa) he becomes, in fact, extremely unruly, and even so much so that the act of flying him (the act of FLYING GARUDA) must inevitably prove something of a problem to his divine master. Given the fact that Vishnu has, in the hinduist pantheon, precisely the function of ensuring stability and preserving all things in their continued existence, we find ourselves in the presence of a fascinating bit of intelligent theology, certainly more than worth writing a piece of music about.
